Julian McKenzie is an Associate Editor, Culture Contributor, and podcaster for The Athletic covering the NHL. He is also the host of The Chris Johnston Show, Zone Time (with Yahoo! Sports) and Hockey Inside/Out (Montreal Gazette).

Before joining The Athletic, he worked as a part-time reporter and editor for The Canadian Press and as a live blogger and columnist for the Montreal Gazette. He has also worked for and contributed to Yahoo! Sports, FiveThirtyEight, Habs Eyes on the Prize, Sporting News, CTV Montreal, TSN 690, The Walrus, the Montreal Community Contact and elsewhere.

In 2020, Julian won a Gala Dynastie Award for Best Podcast alongside Tristan D’Amours for The Scrum Podcast. Julian was also nominated for the Journaliste (Presse écrite)

He is a graduate of Concordia University and Syracuse University.
